NORWALK, Conn. —

More than 200 business leaders and innovators gathered at 7 World Trade Centre in New York City night to celebrate the best of large business innovation and entrepreneurship.

Startups get all the attention for innovation and cool new product launches, but the Corporate Entrepreneur Awards, hosted by Market Gravity, celebrate innovation within big businesses.

They recognize the new products, services and experiences disrupting traditional industries as well as the unsung heroes and teams spearheading these innovation efforts. The awards provide a much-deserved platform for celebrating the hard work required to deliver fundamental business and customer changes, often against all odds.

Now in its sixth year, the Corporate Entrepreneur Awards, recognized winners in six categories:

  • BEST NEW VENTURE – An innovation that has taken a company into a new market or category
  • Best New Service – A service innovation that has redefined its industry or category
  • Best New Product – A product innovation that has redefined its industry or category
  • Social Impact – An innovation that has had a positive social or environmental impact
  • Best Innovation Program – A program or new way of working that has transformed a company’s approach to innovation
  • People’s Choice Award - Voted for by attendees at the event

95 multinational organizations submitted nominations for the awards across all the categories. The winners in each category demonstrated innovative thinking in their approaches, along with the resilience and agility needed to make new things happen.

19 corporate innovations were nominated for the Best New Venture category from the likes of Verizon, BMW, Charles Schwab, Macy’s, Target & American Express. The judging panel however recognized TELEHEALTH INNOVATION BY XEROX as the standout winner.

Consumerism in healthcare is driving the need for everywhere care. Telehealth is a new entrant into this market but the solutions focus on the health aspect (teledoctors etc.) not the backbone infrastructure needed to manage the solution. Xerox customers need/want a seamless integrated solution that leverages eCommerce and provides an excellent & efficient consumer experience.

Investing in HealthSpot (a telemedicine kiosk) & partnering with a start up (Pokitdok) Xerox has created an end-to-end solution for telemedicine "Powered by Xerox" that can be integrated into kiosk telemedicine (like HealthSpot), a clinic or used by a health delivery system in their telemedicine solution. The solution focuses on the challenges of telehealth delivery channels such as interoperability, clinical workflow, reimbursement, security & privacy, technology enablement, stability & reliability and physician adoption.

This new venture is ramping up and is now in 25 Rite Aid stores in Ohio with plans to increase this to 75 stores by the end of the year. Xerox is currently speaking with hospital delivery systems especially those in rural settings where a hub and spoke solution will work well reaching patients in rural areas through telemedicine.

The Xerox solution covers end- to-end: eligibility insurance verification, HIE integration, claims processing, co-pays and payment communication, HL7 and CCDA (clinical document architecture) information exchange, cloud hosting and analytics in a HIPAA & data secure environment. At the back end, Xerox created integration into the provider portal and the patient portal.

Lastly, this solution is designed to move into the home of the future as broad band carriers expand into healthcare and deliver personalized health where you live.

Judges said:

“This is an idea whose time has come. Health care costs are too high, and home health care solutions have not gained any traction. This telehealth kiosk seems like a fantastic way to gather critical health statistics at very low cost and at potentially many retail locations with only a nurse required. I applaud Xerox for partnering with Pokitdok to roll out this technology. I love this business!”
